Collagen stimulation treatment

What is a collagen stimulation treatment and how does it improve the skin?

Many people notice that over time their skin becomes looser, feels less firm, and loses its natural glow. Fine lines and wrinkles become more visible, and the skin loses elasticity and volume. This process is largely caused by a decrease in collagen and elastin in the skin.

A collagen stimulation treatment is a modern method that encourages the body to produce new collagen itself. Instead of directly adding volume, the skin is strengthened from within and gradually renewed, resulting in a natural and long-lasting improvement.

Because treatment methods, techniques, and the doctor’s experience can vary, comparing clinics is important. This gives you insight into the approach, safety, and expected results.

This is what you need to know about collagen stimulation

• Collagen stimulation activates the skin’s natural collagen production.
• It results in firmer, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin.
• Results become gradually visible over weeks to months.
• The treatment takes on average 30 to 60 minutes.
• The effect often lasts 6 to 18 months.
• Natural skin rejuvenation is central to the treatment.
• Comparing helps you choose an experienced doctor.

Why results and experiences with collagen stimulation can vary

Why does the result of collagen stimulation look different for everyone?

The result of collagen stimulation differs per person due to variations in skin structure, age, and metabolism. Collagen-stimulating treatments activate fibroblasts, which produce new collagen in response to controlled stimulation. The degree and speed of this collagen production are influenced by genetic factors, hormonal status, and overall skin condition. Differences in treatment depth and tissue response also play a role. As a result, each individual may experience variation in volume restoration, skin texture, and visible improvement.

Why does collagen stimulation show results faster for some people than for others?

Collagen stimulation produces faster results in some individuals due to differences in the biological response of connective tissue. The treatment activates fibroblasts, which generate new collagen in response to a controlled stimulus. The speed of collagen production depends on age, blood circulation, hormonal factors, and overall skin health. With higher metabolic activity, tissue repair generally occurs more quickly. Therefore, the visible improvement in firmness and volume can vary in timing from person to person.

Why are multiple treatments sometimes needed with collagen stimulation?

Multiple treatments may be needed because collagen production is a gradual biological process. The treatment creates a controlled stimulus in the tissue, activating fibroblasts to produce new collagen. This production occurs in phases and may take weeks to months before becoming visibly noticeable. One session often provides limited stimulation, making repetition necessary to achieve sufficient structural improvement. With multiple treatments, collagen formation is cumulatively enhanced and results become gradually more stable.

Why do collagen stimulation prices differ per clinic?

Prices differ per clinic because the devices, materials, and level of expertise vary in cost. Clinics using advanced technologies and experienced practitioners generally have higher fees due to investments in equipment and training. Location costs, hygiene protocols, and consultation time also influence the total price. Differences in aftercare, product quality, and treatment methods further contribute to variation between clinics.

Why is comparing collagen stimulation treatments important?

Comparing collagen stimulation treatments is important because techniques, products, and practitioner experience vary between clinics. These factors influence the depth of application and the level of tissue stimulation. The intensity of the stimulus determines how many fibroblasts are activated and how much new collagen is produced. Differences in protocol and dosage can therefore lead to variation in results and recovery time. By comparing treatments, you gain a clearer understanding of expected outcomes and potential risks.

Collagen stimulation treatment

What is collagen stimulation & how does it work?

Collagen stimulation at a glance

Type of treatment: Skin-rejuvenating stimulation treatment
Goal: Firming and rejuvenation of the skin
Visible result: Yes (gradual)
Average duration: 30–60 minutes
Main success factor: Technique and doctor’s experience

What exactly does collagen stimulation do?

The treatment activates the skin’s natural repair process, leading to the production of new collagen. This results in a firmer skin structure and a fresher appearance.

How does a collagen stimulation treatment proceed?

Preparation: skin analysis and discussion of goals
Treatment: stimulation of the skin using specific techniques
Immediately after: redness or mild swelling may occur

Is collagen stimulation a filler?

No, collagen stimulation does not add immediate volume but encourages the skin to renew itself.

What can go wrong with a collagen stimulation treatment?

With a collagen stimulation treatment, mild side effects may occur such as temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, and sometimes small bruises in the treated areas. These reactions are usually mild and disappear on their own within a few days. Serious complications are rare, especially when the treatment is performed by an experienced doctor with knowledge of skin structure and proper technique.

Which side effects are most common with collagen stimulation?

The most common side effects are mild redness, swelling, tenderness, and small bruises at the treated areas. This is a normal response of the body to the stimulation of the skin tissue. In most cases, these symptoms resolve on their own within a few days.

Can the skin temporarily react or discolor after collagen stimulation?

During the recovery process, the skin may temporarily become red or show slight pigmentation changes. This is part of the natural healing and collagen production process and usually fades on its own after a short time.

Is collagen stimulation safe in the long term?

Collagen stimulation uses the skin’s natural ability to repair itself and produce new collagen. When the treatment is performed correctly by an experienced doctor, it is considered safe in the long term.

When should you contact a doctor after collagen stimulation?

It is advisable to contact a doctor if you notice signs of infection, severe pain, persistent swelling, or other symptoms that do not improve within a few days. If in doubt, professional advice is always recommended.

Can the result of collagen stimulation be corrected?

Because collagen stimulation works gradually through skin renewal, results usually improve naturally over time. If necessary, the effect can be enhanced with additional treatments to achieve an optimal and even outcome.

I recently had a DermaPen 4 microneedling treatment with PRP and Fillmed NCTF 135 at Livewell Medical Aesthetics, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Tim was incredibly professional, gentle, and knowledgeable throughout the entire process.

From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was calm, clean, and welcoming. Tim took time to explain each step, ensuring I understood how PRP and NCTF 135 would enhance collagen stimulation and skin rejuvenation. The treatment itself was comfortable — Tim’s precision and technique made all the difference.

After just one session, my skin felt smoother, firmer, and noticeably brighter. Fine lines softened, pores tightened, and there’s a radiant glow that keeps improving week by week. The combination of PRP with Fillmed’s advanced formula truly delivers visible, natural results.

I’ve tried microneedling before elsewhere, but the level of care and expertise at Livewell Medical Aesthetics is unmatched. Tim is not only highly skilled but also genuinely passionate about achieving the best outcomes for his clients.

Highly recommend Livewell to anyone looking for professional, results-driven skin treatments — you’ll be in the best hands! Show less »

I was lucky enough to win a competition for an amazing BB Glow facial!
I am busy Mum who works full time and neglects my skincare routine and so I was thrilled to have won this.
Upon arriving at the clinic Cleo made me super welcome and comfortable.
Cleo started by assessing my skin and then talking me through the facial - a BB Glow is a semi-permanent skin treatment that gives the effect of wearing lightweight BB cream or tinted moisturiser, without daily makeup.

The BB Glow Process involved
1. Cleansing & Prep
• The skin is deeply cleansed to remove impurities, oils, and makeup.
• A mild peel or exfoliation is sometimes used to prep the skin and open pores.
2. Serum Infusion (via Microneedling / Nano-Needling)
• A microneedling or nano-needling device is used to create micro-channels in the skin.
• A pigmented BB serum (enriched with vitamins, peptides, hyaluronic acid, and tinted pigments) is infused into the epidermis.
• This helps even out skin tone, reduce redness, and minimise imperfections.
3. Layering for Coverage
• Depending on the desired effect, 1–3 layers of serum are applied for a gradual build-up of a natural tinted look.
4. Serum
• A serum is applied to calm the skin and lock in nutrients.
5. Medical-Grade Red LED Light Therapy (Final Step)
• Red light (around 630–660nm) is applied for 10–20 minutes.
• This enhances serum absorption, reduces redness, promotes collagen production, and speeds healing.

Benefits of BB Glow + Red LED
• Instant Glow & Even Skin Tone – reduces redness, pigmentation, freckles, and dullness.
• Semi-Permanent Tint – a natural “makeup look” that can last several weeks.
• Hydration Boost – hyaluronic acid and peptides improve moisture retention.
• Collagen Stimulation – microneedling + red light helps firm skin over time.
• Reduced Post-Treatment Irritation – LED calms inflammation and redness.
• Brighter, Fresher Complexion – gives skin a radiant, glass-like finish.

I cannot explain the difference after 1 session in my skin, my pores looked smaller and my skin looked brighter and healthier - I even went out the next day with no make up!

I cannot recommend this facial enough, I will definitely be booking again.

Thank you so much Cleo 🫶🏼 Show less »
