I recently attended the clinic to have a conversation about my tired looking under eyes as I was thinking about getting tear trough filler. I booked in for a consultation first to get an opinion and was seen by Dr Hashmi. Dr Hashmi is so lovely, a really warm and kind energy. I felt very listened to as I had concerns regarding such a sensitive area of my face and this being my first time with a cosmetic procedure. Dr Hashmi made me feel that I was in very safe hands with years of expertise in this area. I also didn’t feel pressured in to getting the procedure or any extras, I was allowed time to consider. I opted for 1ml of filler, which I returned a week later for my appointment. The procedure itself was a surprisingly pleasant experience as I was worried it was going to be painful however Dr Hashmi made me feel very relaxed, with some great tunes and relaxing environment. The was almost no pain during the procedure and no swelling or bruising after! The results were instant as she made my under eyes and cheeks looks so much brighter. I am due for a follow up appointment in 4 weeks and I plan to come back for further treatments in the future. I saw Dr Yasmin for an initial consultation a few weeks ago and then booked in for three areas of botox and to have some tear trough filler dissolved which had been put in by another practitioner. The filler had migrated and was starting to make my under eyes look puffy and creating a really blue under eye colour (not great for an already overtired my of two!). Dr Yasmin was amazing - she completely put me at ease, as I was very nervous to have the filler dissolved. She was so gentle and reassuring and the dissolve has completely transformed my face. I have never been happier with the results. What’s more, she made me feel like she actually really cared and has set a plan in place to achieve my skincare goals. I heard of Define Clinic through my workplace after they came and introduced their new clinic opening in Fitzrovia. I’ve always been interested in aesthetics and injectables but I find the market so oversaturated and it’s almost impossible to find a practitioner that you can trust and for the right price too.

I had my initial consultation with Dr Arreni for hyperpigmentation and under eye hollowness and she had a thorough chat with me about my skin goals and what she would suggest. We did a skin scan and she made a treatment plan for me which was emailed with pricing. The clinic also offers 0% financing which was great. I never felt like I was being pushed to buy anything and she was honest about expectations and told me what I would see with what treatment I would get. I decided to start with tear trough filler as that was my biggest concern and my appointment with Dr Arreni was smooth and pain free. She was extremely friendly and kind and made me feel at ease and I am overjoyed with the result. I feel like I can really trust her and her expertise as a skilled doctor and I will most likely keep this as my clinic of choice for all other treatments I would want in the future. Show less »

The personal experience of Ineke van Ruiten (39) with tear trough fillers

I’ve always had under-eye bags. Always a sort of blue circle under my eyes. Even in childhood photos, it was there. Sometimes worse, sometimes less noticeable. In winter when I was pale, or during hay fever season, the bags stood out even more. I didn’t mind them, but my mother often said I looked tired.

During puberty, I became more aware of it. I started wearing makeup and wanted to look good. Those under-eye bags bothered me. Luckily, I could camouflage them well. Still, it was a daily concern. My day couldn’t start until the dark circles were covered. I wouldn’t go outside without concealer.

I never really looked for a permanent solution. I assumed there wasn’t one. Of course, I had heard of fillers, but I didn’t really know what they could do.

Helped by friend Robin

In the following years, I lived my life. I got married and had two children. I worked for over 10 years as an administrative assistant at a large insurance company. At 34, I decided to change jobs. I started working in administration at a home accessories wholesaler. There, I met Robin, my new colleague. Robin is a fun and spontaneous woman, and we became friends. Eventually, I told her how much the dark circles under my eyes bothered me. Robin shared her experience with tear trough fillers. She was shocked I hadn’t heard of them. Haha, yes, I didn’t know — apparently it wasn’t common in my environment.

Robin took me to a consultation at a private clinic in Hilversum. There was a very kind female doctor who understood exactly what bothered me. I decided to have tear trough fillers.

Experience of the tear trough treatment

During the treatment, she gave me one injection. Then she used a cannula under my eye to distribute the filler. It didn’t hurt at all. I find the result amazing. The doctor explained that the dark circle is caused by the thinness of my skin, which makes the blood underneath visible as a blue/dark hue. The tear trough filler slightly thickened the skin. It may be a micro millimetre, but for me, it achieved a perfect result. It’s been three months, and I’m happy every single day.

My advice: Only get treated if you connect with the doctor

I am very grateful to Robin for taking me to this wonderful doctor. I had a great connection with her — she’s a true professional. You sometimes read bizarre stories about fillers in the media, but I think the key is to have a connection with your doctor. If you don’t, just talk to another doctor. That would be my advice!
