Marionette line fillers

Want to reduce marionette lines? This can be done with a filler treatment! On Injectablesbooking, you can compare all clinics that offer this treatment. Read this page to learn everything about marionette line treatments.

Marionette lines are the lines that run from the corners of the mouth down to the chin, and they can appear due to volume loss around the mouth. These lines can give a more aged or sometimes sad appearance. Fortunately, fillers can effectively soften these lines by restoring volume in the area, resulting in a more youthful and friendly look. A filler treatment is a safe and easy way to reduce these signs of ageing.

What are marionette lines?

Marionette lines are the deep folds that run from the corners of the mouth down towards the jawline, creating the impression of drooping mouth corners. When these creases become more pronounced, they can make it seem as though the corners of your mouth are constantly turned down. As a result, you may appear older or less cheerful than you actually feel. These lines develop due to a loss of skin firmness and elasticity, often linked to the natural ageing process. A reduction in collagen and elastin contributes to their formation, leaving the skin looking less youthful. In addition, the skin around the mouth tends to loosen with age, along with the underlying fat tissue in the cheeks and cheekbones — all of which can cause sagging at the mouth corners.

Fortunately, dermal fillers can effectively treat marionette lines by restoring lost volume and smoothing the skin. This makes the skin appear firmer and more youthful, giving you a fresher overall look.

How does a marionette line filler treatment work?

For treating marionette lines, dermal fillers such as hyaluronic acid or Radiesse are commonly used. The practitioner will recommend the most suitable filler based on your goals, skin type, and the depth of the lines.

The treatment begins with a careful assessment of the mouth area, followed by marking the points where the injections will be placed. Small amounts of filler are then injected along the corners of the mouth, extending down towards the jawline. By adding support beneath the mouth corners, fillers help lift and soften the downward pull, while also restoring lost volume to smooth out the lines.

If you prefer, a numbing cream can be applied beforehand to make the treatment more comfortable. The procedure itself is quick and usually takes around 15 minutes.

The results of a marionette line filler treatment

The optimal results of a marionette line filler treatment are usually visible after about two weeks. During this time, the filler has fully settled into the skin, softening or even eliminating the marionette lines. The result? A fresher, more youthful, and friendlier appearance. The effects typically last between 6 and 9 months, depending on factors such as your skin type and lifestyle. Once the results begin to fade, you can schedule a top-up treatment to maintain the effect and continue to reduce the visible signs of ageing.

In some cases, while marionette lines are softened after filler treatment, drooping mouth corners may still remain visible. These too can be treated with targeted filler to subtly lift the corners of the mouth, helping to create a brighter, more cheerful expression.

Aftercare

To support healing and achieve the best results, it’s important to follow a few aftercare guidelines:

Apply a cool pack to the treated area shortly after your appointment. If you wish, you can use an arnica or anti-bruising cream to help reduce bruising. Avoid smoking for at least 4–6 hours after treatment. Avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours. Stay away from saunas, steam rooms, and sunbeds for two weeks. Do not apply makeup to the treated area for 24 hours. Try to sleep on your back on the first night, ideally with an extra pillow to keep your head elevated. Eat a healthy diet rich in fruit and vegetables, and avoid heavy or greasy foods.

Cost of marionette line fillers

We recommend focusing on quality rather than price when choosing a clinic. The cheapest clinic charges around £156 for 0.5 ml of filler, while the average price ranges between £261 and £348. We also recommend attending a non-committal consultation at two different clinics and then choosing the practitioner who gives professional advice and makes you feel most comfortable.

Amazing service from start to finish! I had derma fillers and botox for Marionette lines. It was my first time having anything like this done and Rachel took me through every detail before and during the treatment. I couldn't be happier with the results and highly recommend Rachel. Had lip filler done with Amo. She took the time to explain the procedure and have opportunities to ask questions. The clinic was clean and the procedure itself was practically painless. My lips look amazing and no bruising. Thanks Amo - see you soon for my marionette lines!

Booked a course of 3 microneedling treatments and after just 2 I can see a visible improvement. Main areas of concern were marionette lines and fine lines around mouth. These are all reduced and my skin feels plumper and looks more radiant. Pores on my nose are also smaller and now barely visible even with a magnifying mirror. I've actually stopped wearing foundation and now just use tinted moisturiser. Very happy and I'm quite experienced with beauty treatments and quite cynical about the real benefit of a lot of them. It's not a painfree treatment but Brigi makes it as comfortable as possible, and is such a lovely therapist at this wonderful Chiswick practice. Show less »

I had my initial consultation at Dr. K’s Clinic in December 2022, following research into aesthetic procedures and giving much consideration to Maeve’s clinical experience. I felt very reassured I would be seeing a highly trained, competent professional and I was not disappointed. Maeve is kind, understanding and gives honest realistic advice. I had concerns around marionette lines, wrinkles around my mouth, in between my eyes and a general aged appearance. 36 months later, following various treatments including Botox, Polynucleotides and prescription skincare, it’s extraordinary to be looking and feeling refreshed and younger at the age of 63. Very recently and for the first time ever, I tried “the perfect peel” due to concerns around pigmentation. I could see a noticeable improvement with this and the results are instantaneous. Visiting Dr K’s Clinic for the first time was a big step and a great decision! The clinic is in a private quiet location, which is easy to access, in between Chester and Wrexham. Show less »

I recently visited Dr. B for lip and marionette fillers, as well as Botox, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience and results!

From the moment I walked in, the clinic’s facilities were spotless and welcoming. Dr. B’s professionalism and attention to detail stood out, and they made me feel like I was speaking to a lovely friend rather than just a patient.

Having had some bad experiences with lip fillers in the past, I was understandably nervous. However, Dr. B’s expertise and caring approach put me completely at ease. I felt confident letting Dr. B decide what was right for my face, and she did not disappoint!

The results are perfect - my lips have a natural fullness, the marionette lines are beautifully softened, and the Botox has given me a fresh, rejuvenated look while keeping everything natural and expressive. Best of all, the recovery was painless with no bruising, and I was able to carry on with my day as normal.

I’ve already recommended Dr. B to all my family and friends and will definitely be back in the future. Thank you for your amazing work! ✨ Show less »
