Sculptra doesn't work for everybody.
In May 2025 I had Sculptra pumped into my face at VL. I had hoped it would be done by Lucy, as she was the first person to ever inject anything into my face years earlier, and the result was great. But Lucy said that Amanda was even better, so it was Amanda who did it. I was asked to fill a standard, detailed medical form online when I was at the Lab before the treatment, and I sent it across there and then. When we got settled in the room, I asked Amanda about her qualifications, experience with Sculptra etc, as the only diplomas on the walls were Lucy's. Amanda seemed taken aback at my enquiry, as if it was an affront; she seemed to think it was very negative of me to ask. She told me of her several years at the NHS working as a ... midwife... ok... She had been doing Sculptra for a year. She said that if I wanted to go home and think about it, that's fine. But I would still want the answers to the same questions, so I didn't go home. Amanda then started preparing for the treatment; obviously the conversation was over, so I was a bit worried and asked if she had looked at my medical form. There might be contraindications, I thought. Well, no, she hadn't looked at it. At this point Lucy came back into the room and reassured me that everything was alright. I went ahead with the treatment, which was excrutiatingly painful. I had not expected this. At some point I screamed in pain. One side of my face was bruised black for over a week - the other side, amazingly, was fine. My face looked and felt taut and plump, for about a week. I did the prescribed massage 5 times a day religiously, until I massaged the plumpness away and my face was essentially back to normal. Then I waited to see some action, some improvement, some effect. Well, it hasn't happened. Nothing happened. I waited several months. In September, I went in to talk to Lucy, show her my face etc. She wasn't in the Lab, so I left a message for her to contact me. So far, I have only had emails advertising special offers, but I haven't heard from Lucy, so I don't know if my experience is unusual. But from my perspective, I have spend a few hundred pounds on quite a lot of pain and nothing visible. So disappointing.
