I drive a taxi and hear first hand from my customers what it's like to have a poor service from their GP.
After reading some of the negative comments , all I can say is that these people don't appreciate what they have, which is :
. Kind, polite and understanding reception staff, also highly experienced medical staff.
. A ring back service that calls you if there are high call volumes.
. All triage service that in most cases you get a call back within a hour, most often less than 30 minutes depending on the severity of your problem by a health care professional who will make a decision based on what you tell them , this often results in me getting an appointment on the same day and with the right person.
This is a practice that gives me personally a high level of service and I appreciate what they do for me. Because you haven't got your own way or you think you may have been overlooked please just stop and think that there was probably a valid reason for this.
If you want the world to revolve around you then maybe consider paying privately, I believe that companies like BUPA have very reasonable monthly plans.

Longtime patient with long term health conditions. Always been able to get an urgent appointment/phone call when needed. Routine appts in a couple of weeks which I think is the same everywhere. All GPs and healthcare assistant/nurses I've come across are lovely, friendly and professional. I always feel listened to and any health issues treated seriously.

That said there are many good people here but unfortunately I have been told from one of the "horses mouths" senior GP"s are unwilling to work overtime as they become liable to a higher rate of income tax. Highfield Surgery is the definition of hit or miss—except when it comes to my care, where it has been a consistent miss for over two years. I’ve been managing a long-term condition, reliant on regular opiates which, unsurprisingly, have lost effectiveness over time. Despite raising concerns repeatedly, my worsening symptoms were continually brushed off and ignored.

If this surgery had taken my complaints seriously and carried out the appropriate investigations two years ago, I would not be in the painful, deteriorated condition I am in today. Instead, I was misdiagnosed with MLBP (Mechanical Lower Back Pain) without a single scan to support this conclusion. It has now been proven by actual scans that my condition is significantly worse. This level of neglect and misdiagnosis is unacceptable and borders on medical negligence.

At my most recent appointment, I was told by a clinician (Leon) that I “need to learn to deal with my pain.” While pain management is important, it is insulting and dismissive to say this when the practice itself is responsible for ignoring my concerns, delaying necessary referrals, and failing to investigate my condition properly. Only after two years of persistence have I finally been referred to the appropriate services, which should have happened in the first place.

Because of their inaction, I now face long waits for MSK and Orthopaedics appointments—delays that could have been entirely avoided had the practice done its job when I first asked for help. I could have had a treatment plan in place by now and been on the path to recovery, rather than stuck in limbo, suffering needlessly.

If you want to be patronized, misdiagnosed, and dismissed, Highfield Surgery is the place for you. If you want your symptoms to be taken seriously and your complaints listened to—look elsewhere. This surgery has failed me completely, and I wouldn’t wish my experience on anyone. Show less »

I have met some Excellent doctors there. Good investigative medical skills used although there was some delay from just one medical person there. Now on urgent pathway from unexpected findings which is a bit scary. Has also dealt with skin cancer referral well and in timely fashion for biopsy.

Receptionist tried to refer her to pharmacy and advised to wait for them phone call back. No phone call back ! When they drove to the pharmacy they said they couldn’t treat her. Advice her to bay olive oil drops for the ear 😞 😓 After another phone call with the receptionist I was told they were fully booked and couldn’t get an appointment!

Absolutely appalling practice. Iv been with Highfield around 2 to 3 years and iv never in my life been at such an incompetent practice . Iv had asthma for 38 years controlled by the same inhaler alongside a second steroid inhaler. Every time i go to order my prescription they have removed the main inhaler which assists me in controlling attacks without any notice and without any discussion with myself. This has been discussed multiple times with the asthma nurse who was happy to leave both on prescription (which i also pay for) as they help to control my condition however regardless of this it has been removed over and over and over again . This time is the final straw and a complaint abive the practice is now being filed . To say this is supposed to be a doctors practice, they are quite literally endangering life by limiting access to medication that controls my breathing , medication i have had for over 37 years. Iv now registered with another local practice and would never recommend this shambles Show less »
