I am extremely disappointed with this appointment and left feeling rushed, dismissed, patronised, and no further forward.

I paid £185 for this consultation using my Christmas money, specifically because after 4–5 months of ongoing, extremely painful growing raised areas on my scalp, and it affecting my day to day life and sleeping. I was hoping for proper investigation so I could finally understand what is happening and treat it appropriately. Instead, no dermoscopy was used, no swabs were taken, and no biopsies were even considered. They were actually declined. I was told swabs are only done if skin is open and oozing, which does not reflect standard dermatology practice. And that a biopsy would be useless in my case?

I have already been using over the counter treatments and emollients for months without improvement, yet the only option offered was a £50 prescription emollient on top of the £185 consultation fee. I declined this, as I already have emollients at home and would far rather have spent money on further investigation than on a cream I’ve effectively already been using. With new, growing, and genuinely painful lesions, an emollient does not feel like an adequate or thoughtful response. He seemed more distracted with the problems going on in his personal life and working out how to use the system.

I was repeatedly told “there’s nothing there.” Many of the symptoms are on my scalp, which is difficult to assess visually due to having a lot of hair. I had photos ready to show to demonstrate how these areas look when visible, but around 10 minutes into the consultation it was already clear that my concerns were not going to be meaningfully explored. The appointment felt scripted rather than responsive to my individual symptoms.

There was little attempt to explore my history, except for anxiety and depression, of course. Standard practise paying to see a dermatologist.
Caring more about my history of anxiety and depression and if I am receiving any care for that, than actually listening to my symptoms. That also includes no questions about UV exposure. Had he asked, I would have made him aware of my high uv exposure, as I spent 15 years living in sunny Spain as a child and very rarely wore any SPF protection and very regularly used tanning oils, he might have then also taken me a tiny bit more seriously. Perhaps not.

I fully respect that the clinician has far more medical knowledge than I do. However, I am the one living in my body, and I know when something does not feel normal for me. The pain from these raised areas on my scalp is unlike anything I have experienced before, I have had skin infections, eczema before and this does not in any way shape or form feel like that. The pain in the raised areas is a deep, intense tingling pain that is extremely uncomfortable and very real, even if it is not immediately obvious on visual inspection. However if he had done a swab or biopsy and the results confirmed it was either infection, eczema whatever the result, I would have been delighted with atleast having a clear diagnosis and could research treatments. But since this is only based of his 2 minute visual inspection I am very skeptical.

There was no clear diagnosis explained, no meaningful treatment plan, and no safety netting advice if symptoms continue or worsen. I left with no reassurance and nothing tangible to show for the money spent. As someone who carefully saved for this appointment, this was incredibly upsetting.

I feel that the consultation did not offer anything. Zero value, thoroughness, or patient centred care, and I would not recommend this service to anyone seeking proper investigation or collaborative decision making. I feel scammed to put it bluntly. I left the building feeling worse than when I entered. I was not listened to or taken seriously. Something you hope to get if you’re paying good money for. Show less »

During the consultation, I was recommended not to have ANY treatment whatsoever and go to a spa. Was told that the skincare specialist would first discuss with a clinician(pictures were taken) and a report would be sent as a follow up. Still yet to recieve the report. I followed up again.

There are plenty of top clinics that either do not charge a fee for consultation and if they do, its deducted from treatment price, not this one. Go elsewhere! Show less »

No two week review appointment was offered, and I was not given any aftercare instructions. I had to proactively contact the clinic because the lumps under my eyes remain clearly visible. I was then booked in again with the same injector who had originally overfilled and placed the product too superficially despite expressing my concerns.

For £450, I expected a far higher standard of care and professionalism. The overall service was extremely disappointing and poor value for money.

I expect SKN to refund me in full so that I can see a genuine expert in tear trough treatments to correct the damage caused. Show less »

Be very careful about unexpected/unclear charging here. There is a fixed charge for a consultation which is to be expected but any procedure however small that is carried out during your consultation will be charged on top. I see the company went bust last year and is now under new ownership - let's see how long they survive at those price levels. Show less »

I've been seeing Dr. Jeremy Halfhide over the past year for advice and treatment following disfigurement from a rare skin infection. He's ultra conservative in approach, which doesn't always align with my risk appetite as I'm more results-oriented. Most clinics with him generally end in 'healthy debate'.

I dislike being lectured on risk without alternative proposals. The good thing about Dr. Halfhide is that he'll offer potential solutions along with explaining everything that can possibly go wrong in the worst ways to ensure I was fully informed, which I grudgingly appreciate.

To me, that signals he's incredibly knowledgeable and experienced in his specialty (being laser dermatology). I may not always agree with him in principle, but I can't deny that I've seen positive results following most of his advice and his sensibilities have ensured that I remain on the right side of the risk scale while we work towards addressing scars from infection and multiple surgeries.

His bedside manner can take some getting used to. If you're after risk-adjusted results and he believes he can help you, it's worth sticking it out. I've warmed up to him over time.

I'm aware of the financial history of SKN. I wasn't impacted as I became a patient after the group was acquired by Loreena Investments. I won't give any advice on how to navigate this issue. Personally, I've chosen to PAYG at this time. I have not discussed this with any of the doctors or staff at SKN.

Given my experiences, I can only recommend. If you're looking for a sensible, knowledgeable practitioner, it's worth exploring options with Dr. Halfhide and SKN Harley Street. Show less »

To see the doctor, it would cost £180. A brand that truly values its clients would have honored the initial booking, even if it was a mistake. This interaction showed me that their priority is revenue, not building trust, which is a major concern when entrusting a clinic with something as personal as your skin." Show less »

You expect to have a great level of service from somewhere on Harley Street but that's not what I received. The doctor was short with me, dismissive, no bedside manner and gave me no insight into the cause of my skin issue which is still ongoing. Just go to your GP - the service was overpriced and ineffectual.

Shambolic practice. Avoid at all costs.

I booked a milia consultation on the 12th August, for the 19th August at 8:40am. As documented, the cost of this consultation was £0. I paid a £50 holding/reservation fee. The consultant sees me at 8:55am, and I leave his room at 9:15am. He tells me he cannot remove the milia, after prodding it, because it isn’t a milia. As I leave, he tells me it will only be the consultation cost, which, as I have documented, was £0!

I go downstairs to leave, and the receptionist (that’s all I’ll call her) treats me like a criminal walking off without paying. They charge me a consult fee and a milia removal (despite not having it removed). I insist the consult fee was booked for £0 and she says no.

I am now around £400 out of pocket for nothing, and was totally embarrassed and ashamed by the way this staff member treated me. As I got back to my car, I noticed something. At 9:21am, a “new appointment” was made for me at 8:50am, so after the fact. Presumably so they could charge me for the consult fee when I originally had it booked for £0.

I’ve lodged a formal complaint to their head office. The way the reception staff member and “dr” jeremy halfhide treated me is appalling. I believe there is an element of corruption here based on them booking an entirely new appointment for me whilst I was on the middle of arguing about the price. Avoid this rude, corrupt stain on Harley street. Show less »
