I had an appointment last week with the hygienist Mandy. I have to say that my appointment was exemplary, she explained so much, and since that appointment I have been so motivated and have been taking extra care of my teeth, a long time coming. Just thank you Mandy:)

What is the policy for changing dentists within the practice. My wife and I had Kate until she left. We were given a new dentist by the practice without any consultation. What is the policy for changing dentists within the practice. My wife and I had Kate until she left. We were given a new dentist by the practice without any consultation. Unfortunately we don't feel as comfortable with this dentist and have requested a different dentist. It's seems like the practice is putting up barriers to stop this. I got a last minute new patient exam which was great. I was greeted by two very lovely ladies on reception. I saw AJ (with a dental nurse, I can’t remember her name but she was great) and he was very factual and reassuring with a very thorough exam. I saw AJ (with a dental nurse, I can’t remember her name but she was great) and he was very factual and reassuring with a very thorough exam. He created a plan for me, showed me exactly how much it will cost etc, and gave me advice I never have had from other dental surgeries! They also managed to get me in for a hygienist appointment literally 7 minutes after my original appt end time. The hygienists I saw were amazing and so gentle and reassuring (hands down the best and least painful cleaning I’ve had done). All in all a great experience being a very nervous person with my teeth. Pleased that I will now be using them as my dentist, thank you so much. Show less »

Although getting to my complaint, this would be that the receptionists do not give you a warm welcome, make you feel at ease or even wanted in the practice. A couple times after treatment they just put the card machine in front of your face. They don’t tell you how much the cost of the visit is, or if the treatment went well. I have been a patient at this practice for over four years now and usually someone who would just take things on the chest. I am not wanting a red carpet to be rolled out. Is asking for at least a friendly welcoming and inviting setting asking to much? I believe that should be the first step in a customer facing environment. Without this some patients will not want to return. Show less »

I have just received the best dental treatment from Dr Philip Allamby . I have wanted to improve my smile for a number of years and Phil has made my dream come true this morning. One really rude receptionist was snotty and unhelpful, other one was friendly though, not at nice atmosphere, had a filling done wasn’t right for months moved to a York dentist who has rectified it perfectly. Last hygiene appointment was rushed and not how it used to be and hurt quite abit. Only good dentist here I feel is Peter. Unfortunately it’s not th... Show more »

Had an emergency bridge repair today as an unregistered patient which was a huge relief. The receptionist Claire was so kind and helpful, very knowledgeable and reassuring - a huge thank you to her. The dentist was super kind ( I'm terrified of dentists ) and fixed me up in no time and patiently explained all my options. Cannot recommend this practice high... Show more »

I went for an emergency appointment and had a tooth removed. The receptionists were really welcoming. AJ, the dentist and his nurse were lovely. I will be recommending this dentist to my friends and family.

The best dentist I have visited by far! I have always been an extremely anxious patient but Newby Dental Practice put my mind at ease from the second I walked through the door. The team are all friendly and very welcoming. I recently had a wisdom tooth extracted with local anaesthetic… something I never thought I would be able to have done without sedation. Beth and Phoebe were so friendly and great at keeping me calm. Emma made the whole procedure as relaxing as possible and I really didn’t feel any pain throughout. I also want to recommend Peter as he made the procedure of having a filling so painless and Lesley made me feel so relaxed throughout! Don’t Normally write reviews but this is the Best dentist in Scarborough 100% .I’ve had teeth pulled before in other dentist offices always left in agony thinking it’s not right but that’s because they kept missing a abscess don’t know how but came to Newby dental got sorted stairght away no messing around staff are mint they knew I hated the dentist they... Rang in the morning with toothache,appointment in the afternoon.
Attended surgery, seen promptly, good communication explained what was proposed, tooth removed, no pain, very competent dentist,

Excellent service! I contacted the surgery to arrange an emergency appointment. They responded very quickly and got me booked in on the same day. The receptionists were welcoming and helpful. I contacted Newby Dental Practice after numerous times getting into my own dental practice. From the off they were very helpful. I called yesterday, asked if they carried out emergency appointments to which the young girl said ‘yes, but you need to call from 10:30’ so I agreed to call today. I called yesterday, asked if they carried out emergency appointments to which the young girl said ‘yes, but you need to call from 10:30’ so I agreed to call today. I contacted them today as discussed and was booked in straight away. Very professional, helpful and friendly. I walked into the practice and was welcomed straight away.
Annie, was Absolutley amazing. Annie carried out my treatment and made me feel at ease along with her dental nurse the whole time. Thankyou so much Annie, for talking me through everything, constantly reassuring me and asking if I was ok and giving me a full understanding. Even though I maybe did have tears, I am so grateful for Annie and the team at Newby helping me so much, to hopefully curb the pain 🙏
