As we age, our skin becomes looser. This is due to a decrease in collagen and elastin. This collagen can now be strengthened with Ultherapy. This is an Ulthera treatment for sagging skin in the face, under the chin, and neck. Read the article below for the pros and cons and information about the Ulthera treatment!

Ulthera treatment

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment. With Ultherapy, sound waves (ultrasound) are delivered to the exact right spots and at the correct intensity in the skin. This optimally stimulates and strengthens the collagen.

Ulthera treatment costs

The cost of Ultherapy varies per clinic. The following rates are common:

  • A small Ultherapy treatment (e.g., crow’s feet) £165 - £255

  • A large Ultherapy treatment (e.g., under chin + neck) £970 - £1,520

What can the treatment be used for?

Ulthera skin tightening is suitable for sagging skin on the eyebrows, face, jawline, under the chin, neck, and décolleté. It is important to discuss with your doctor what results you can realistically expect from the treatment.

Is there scientific evidence that Ultherapy works?

Several publications in scientific journals have demonstrated its effectiveness. The MHRA, the UK government agency that evaluates medical treatments, has approved Ultherapy as a treatment to lift the skin on the neck, eyebrows, and under the chin, and to reduce lines and wrinkles on the décolleté.

When to expect results from an Ulthera treatment

After an Ulthera treatment, you can see and feel immediate results. However, this is a reaction to the treatment itself. The true results become visible after approximately 2 months. After around 3–4 months, the results are optimal. You may consider a second treatment after 6–9 months (in consultation with your doctor). The results typically last for about 3 years.

Am I suitable for Ulthera lifting?

Ultherapy can tighten sagging skin. If there is significant excess skin, Ultherapy may not be the most suitable treatment. The most common age range for treatment is between 30–55 years. During a non-binding consultation, the doctor can advise whether Ultherapy is likely to provide the desired results for you.

How many Ulthera treatments do you need?

Only one Ulthera treatment is usually necessary. You will often see and feel results immediately after the treatment, but this is only a reaction to the procedure. Generally, improvement is visible after 2 months, with optimal results after 3–4 months. This is because the skin is stimulated to produce and strengthen collagen, which takes time. You may consider a second treatment after 6–9 months. The results typically last up to 3 years.

Is Ulthera also used for face slimming?

Yes, Ultherapy can be used for face slimming. Read more here about face slimming.

When can you not undergo treatment?

You cannot have an Ultherapy treatment if you have open wounds, (severe) acne, and/or active implants (e.g., pacemakers or defibrillators) in the treatment area.

How long does a treatment take?

Ultherapy around the eyes or jaw takes about 30 minutes. A treatment of the décolleté or neck can take up to 1.5 hours. The duration of the treatment depends on the size of the treatment area.

Does Ultherapy hurt?

The Ulthera treatment is not considered painful. Most people feel a tingling and warm sensation, which can sometimes be uncomfortable. This is a normal reaction and a feeling you can expect.

Advice and care after an Ulthera treatment

Ulthera neck and Ultherapy under the chin

The neck and under-chin areas are the most popular Ultherapy treatments. It is advisable to first have a non-binding consultation to gather all the information and ask any questions.
