All sounded positive and chose the best lens available, £12400 so was hoping for great results. Reading was my issue and it seemed I was being recommended a lens for both distance and reading as not to loose my good distance sight. After many months didn’t improve, spoke to surgeon and recommended additional laser surgery at an additional £1200. Again wasn’t happy after months so went for eyesight check and found one eye had improved just 0.25 and the other had got worse by 0.50.. this is from before I had any surgery. Went back and expressed my dissatisfaction to be pretty much advised the choice was mine and I was advised it’s not pretty much guaranteed… options to have another option to pay for a single contact lens implanted on top of the new lenses. Have decided to seek further options away from this centre… so back to wearing glasses … wasn’t going to write a review but I have paid for the best to receive a result it’s pretty much impossible to notice …. I attended The Sight Centre/Tunbridge Wells Eye Centre between 2025–2026 to explore suitability for laser eye surgery. A key reason I chose this clinic was the finance information on their website, which stated that 1–5 year interest‑free plans were available. This was important to me as someone on a limited income trying to access treatment responsibly.

At no point before my consultation or diagnostic scans was I told that the 5‑year option was not actually available. I only found this out months after paying significant initial fees for consultation and scans, when I was informed that the longest plan they could offer was 12 months. Had I known this from the start, I would not have booked or paid for the assessments.

Even now, at the time of writing, the clinic’s website still advertises 1–5 year interest‑free finance, despite this not being something they can provide in practice. This discrepancy is the core issue and has significantly affected my trust.

The clinical assessments themselves were completed, but the treatment pathway changed completely after the scans, becoming far more complex and expensive than the laser surgery I originally enquired about. Combined with the finance issue, I no longer felt confident continuing with the clinic.

I raised a complaint and requested a refund of the consultation and scan fees on the basis that I proceeded under information that turned out to be inaccurate. Unfortunately, this was declined.

I’m sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision, especially if finance options are an important factor for them. Show less »

Let's put it this way. Nobody wants to visit places like that and if you need to go there, you know there is a reason. But I have got to say that the service and treatment I have received are top-notch. The surgeon was very professional in her job and it all went very well.

WORLD CLASS FACILITY AND OPHTHALMIC SURGEONS. The Sight Centre is in a league of its own. Every aspect has been carefully considered; from the initial enquiry stage with the really helpful reception team, visiting the clinic to any actual procedure required. They have gathered together an outstanding team of leading clinicians so that they can deliver the highest level of service, using the latest equipment and techniques. I have a complex eye condition and have been under the care of Mr Lake who is an expert in his field and took time to explain what was possible and didn't push me into making a decision till I'd had time to think things through. He recently operated on both eyes and not only were the results outstanding the whole experience was very positive. His nursing and theatre people work together as a team to create a really calm environment nothing was rushed.
I would highly recommend The Sight Centre which I think is totally outstanding and provides a highly professional and personal service.

Calming environment, caring professional team, talking through each part of the op, giving me confidence and increasing my trust levels and reducing the scariness of the experience. During the op. My eyes were cold(due to drops put in them), it felt uncomfortable for a brief period of time, I could see a kaleidoscope of patterns and hear weird noises from the laser. NO PAIN at any point! As soon as they had done the first eye, before they started on the second, I could already see! I cannot thank Damien Lake and his team enough for their kindness, skill etc. I am now day 2 post op. and have my vision back and confidence, thank you! Show less »
