I had my first facial at S Thetics today and it far exceeded my expectations. I initially thought it would be two standard facials, but it was a completely tailored, holistic experience—from lymphatic drainage with inflatable compression, to detailed face and neck massage, deep cleansing, oxygen and light therapy. Miss Balaratnam’s approach is highly personalised and grounded in clear, thoughtful explanations informed by her medical expertise. It felt both results-driven and deeply restorative—at times almost like spiritual healing. I left having learned a great deal about my skin and how to actively repair long-term damage. Went to them a few weeks ago and the consultation booking page prominently featured the doctor’s image and branding, and the website invited patients to “request a consultation.” I completed the request form and was then called by the clinic to book the appointment. Went to them a few weeks ago and the consultation booking page prominently featured the doctor’s image and branding, and the website invited patients to “request a consultation.” I completed the request form and was then called by the clinic to book the appointment.

At no point during the booking process was I told that the consultation would be carried out by a nurse rather than the doctor, and I was never given the option to choose between seeing a doctor or a nurse. Based on how the clinic presents itself online, I believed I was booking to consult with the doctor.

When I attended the clinic, everything was handled through reception staff and then by a nurse. I was confused because in other aesthetic clinics I have attended, patients are clearly informed in advance whether their consultation will be with a doctor or a nurse.

I did not challenge it in person because I felt uncomfortable doing so at the time. However, I later saw the clinic continuing to promote consultations with the doctor on Instagram, despite my own experience of never meeting or consulting with the doctor during any of my visits.

I commented publicly that I felt the advertising and booking process were misleading. The clinic replied saying I should have specifically asked to see the doctor. In my opinion, that misses the point entirely. Patients should be clearly informed who they are actually booking to see, rather than having to discover it themselves after attending.

Shortly after I raised this concern publicly, the clinic blocked me instead of addressing the feedback professionally.

To be clear, this review is not criticism of the nurses themselves. My issue is with the lack of transparency in the clinic’s advertising and consultation process and them not opening up to feedback.

I came across Sthetics in Tatler’s Beauty & Cosmetic Surgery Guide at a time when I was facing challenges with menopause, stress and a lack of taking care of myself. What a find they were! They have helped me significantly improve my skin condition and general skin care routine with their products (including taking the amazing collagen powder). Moreover, I had a hysterectomy and as part of my recovery started the Celluma Light Therapy as well as the Emtite programme for my face, following weight loss. All of these treatments, products and care have ensured that my skin has improved and tightened, my scar has healed quickly and is barely visible and I can now focus on minimising the signs of ageing. I have been a patient at Sthetics for over eight years. I have always highly recommended Miss Sherina Balaratnam experience to all of my friends, as you truly are in the best hands with her and her dedicated team. Also Cheryl is absolutely amazing and her experience is 2nd to none. The past month has been a tricky one due to personal events and on attending my last appointment with Sherina she took me down a different path and under her guidance and knowledge decided to try Exomind. This was totally new to me as a treatment and I have been amazed and astounded by the positive impact it has had on my mental state and well-being. Super happy with S thetics and so glad I found them. I felt my (40 years ish) skin needed a bit more help to regain its glow and dewiness and Victoria has been fabulous at helping me achieve this. After four months of regular visits my skin is feeling much more like it used too without anything invasive needed, which I didn't want. Victoria noted this and constructed a treatment programme with recommended products that have subtly enhanced my skin and face as I hoped.
