I’ve been with this dental practice for a number of years. The female dentists had been great.

However, in my opinion it was a disappointing experience with Shane (as it’s been noted in reviews below). During an emergency appointment, he laughed after describing being in pain, not something you expect. I felt that he was quite negative and condescending.

I was surprised that in the experience he stated not seeing anything wrong by eye but didn’t take any X-rays as one might do.

Consequently, having seen another practitioner they noted that the recently placed filling indeed needs replaced due to a defect - all they did was a X-ray and it was very clear.

I’d say, the experience is surprising considering that private dentistry is supposed to be better given the cost but I think you can do better in the NHS. Show less »

I’ve been coming for a while but recently it’s felt a quite unprofessional. I’m interested to read that only a couple of days ago someone else has felt that way.

I feel that things have changed since they moved completely private so I’m concerned about that.

I just find him unprofessional, and I’d agree that he’s got a bit of a superiority complex going on. He can be quite patronising and not particularly helpful when you are there. Ive been to other dentist who were much better in practice and who use better components. Show less »

I was referred to Dr Shane by a friend and could not have been more pleased with the entire practice and of course the results of my composite bonding.

In my consultation, Dr Shane took the time to discuss and figure out exactly what I wanted. This made a huge difference as it made me re-think certain aspects and understand why I wanted my teeth to look a certain way.

The process was very well explained and Josslyn, the dental nurse, made sure I was comfortable throughout which I really appreciated. She is very friendly and an asset to the team.

I have a past of being nervous at the dentist but the staff here are so warm yet professional that I immediately trusted them 100%. Highly recommend. Show less »

I have used this practice for some years now, with Louise as my dentist, but now sadly retired. Following a recent appointment with Shane, I found him to be incredibly rude and unprofessional. Having read the previous review, given only four days prior to this, I too, would agree that he is also very condescending and I'm clearly not the only one that has had an issue with him. Quite frankly, it is not cheap to go to a private dentist, so I would much rather give my hard earned money to a dentist who is professional, courteous and has a genuine, caring approach to dental care. I have been with this practice since Shane and Louise took it over and have no hesitation in recommending them. Louise is my usual dentist and is first class, providing excellent advice re prevention of problems. More recently, Shane inserted an implant and that went well and is a huge success. I also had one occasion where I had an emergency appointment on Hogmanay and Shane came out and dealt with it, without fleecing me for an out of hours rate. I recommend both Louise and Shane and they also have an excellent hygienist. Show less »

I am absolutely delighted by the whole experience. The entire team could not have been more friendly and attentive at every appointment. Shane, ably assisted by Brogan, did a tremendous job sorting out my dental issue. With thanks from a very appreciative patient.

I have been a client at Lauriston Dental Care for 30 years and the standard of service is higher than ever. I had the need for an implant, which was carried out flawlessly using the most impressive technology. Can't recommend them highly enough.

I was very nervous going to my hygienist appointment and explained my fears to Sharon. She was excellent, patient and friendly. Sharon did a great job, took it really slowly, giving me lots of breaks and made me laugh. I can say I'm almost looking forward to my appointment in August! Thank you.

I was so impressed with the level of service I received, had an implant fitted by Shane which has turned out fab. From start to finish I felt comfortable and able to ask for anything. Do not hesitate if your thinking about any cosmetic work, Shane is happy to chat to you about your options.

Couldn’t be happier with my recent implant. In seeing Shane for over 10 years, have never failed to be anything other than thoroughly impressed by his expertise & professionalism. Have had various procedures without any problems. Can’t recommend highly enough really.
