I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately my experience with Cambridge Dental Care was very disappointing.
I lost one of my front false teeth as a child, and it is attached using dental cement. Over the years, it has occasionally come loose, usually every 3-4 years, so I know my situation and what normally works.
When it came off recently, I booked an emergency appointment first thing in the morning and paid £150 to have it fixed. I was grateful they were able to see me immediately, as I had to postpone business meetings and rearrange my entire day. As someone who regularly meets clients, I simply couldn’t attend meetings with a missing front tooth.
During the appointment, I explained my concerns about the tooth coming loose again. The dentist told me the repair was temporary and only needed to last until I could see my regular dentist in around two weeks. That seemed reasonable. However, I certainly did not expect it to fail within 16 hours.
That same night, while I was asleep, the tooth came off and actually caused me to wake up choking. It was quite alarming.
To their credit, the practice fitted me in again quickly the next day. The reception team were friendly and efficient, and the dentist was polite and helpful. During the second appointment, I was told a stronger cement would be used this time, which left me wondering why that wasn’t done during the first emergency repair.
Unfortunately, the tooth came off again that very same night, causing me to wake up choking for a second time.
By this point, I was extremely frustrated. I contacted the practice again the following morning and was initially offered another appointment that afternoon. Later, however, I received a call advising that there might be additional charges.
At that stage, I had already paid £150, taken time away from running my business, rearranged meetings on multiple occasions, attended repeated appointments, and still did not have a functioning repair.
The staff themselves were friendly, responsive, and clearly tried to accommodate me. My criticism is not directed at the reception team or the dentist personally. My concern is with the quality of the treatment provided and the apparent lack of attention given to ensuring the repair was secure and durable, even as a temporary solution.
I appreciate that this was an emergency appointment and that temporary repairs are not guaranteed to last forever. However, having the same repair fail twice within such a short period, including while sleeping, is simply not acceptable in my opinion.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Cambridge Dental Care. While they are a legitimate and busy practice with friendly staff, the outcome fell far below what I would reasonably expect from emergency dental treatment.
