25% of women aged 16–34 consider Botox and fillers

This was revealed by research from 3Vraagt, part of the EenVandaag Opinion Panel, in collaboration with Spuiten en Slikken, among around 3,500 young people aged 16 to 34 in 2022. Among men, 10% are considering a filler treatment. Read more below the photo.

Big difference between surgery and Botox/fillers

The EenVandaag article does not indicate how many respondents view surgery positively compared to cosmetic treatments with Botox or fillers. Nor does it specify the age at which respondents hold certain opinions. It is reasonable to assume that a 17-year-old is less likely to be concerned with Botox (wrinkle treatments) but may be more focused on surgery (such as breast surgery, liposuction, or ear correction). According to the research, 25% of female participants would consider a Botox treatment, compared to 26% who would consider a filler treatment.

The research

A total of 3,437 participants took part in the 3Vraagt study. The survey asked questions about “cosmetic procedures.” These include both surgery (such as breast surgery, liposuction, and ear correction) and cosmetic treatments involving fillers and Botox.

Normalization

The figures show that normalization is taking place. In 2018, 32% of young people believed that “altering a healthy body,” purely for aesthetic reasons, should be acceptable. Now, that figure has risen to 51%, according to the EenVandaag Opinion Panel.

Impact

The impact of a surgical procedure is generally greater than that of an injectables (Botox/fillers) treatment. A Botox treatment is effective for an average of 12–16 weeks. A filler treatment delivers results for about 9 months on average. Injectables therefore provide temporary results. When the effect of a treatment wears off, you can choose to have a follow-up treatment naturally, only if you’re satisfied with the previous results.

The EenVandaag article also includes the following passage: “Of those who have had something done, the majority (79%) are satisfied with the result. Two-thirds (64%) say they have also become happier because of the procedure. ‘I was relatively young, but it was an incredibly good decision,’ says a participant who had her breasts enlarged. ‘Before, I really didn’t dare to wear a bikini because I had no breasts at all. After the procedure, I feel much more feminine.’”

This passage does not clarify what percentage of people were satisfied or became happier after an injectables treatment. There may be a difference in the level of ‘satisfaction’ and ‘happiness’ between respondents who had cosmetic surgery and those who had Botox or filler treatments.

Growth in Botox/filler treatments continues

Botox and filler treatments are becoming increasingly popular. Injectablesbooking.co.uk maps all clinics and treatment locations where you can go for injectables procedures. In the UK, there are approximately 1,100 locations offering cosmetic treatments. It is advisable to do thorough research before choosing a treatment. Compare doctors based on their experience and credentials, read reviews, and visit two or three clinics for an informative consultation.
