25% of women aged 16–34 consider Botox and fillers

Research conducted by 3Vraagt, part of the EenVandaag Opinion Panel, in collaboration with Spuiten en Slikken, surveyed approximately 3,500 young people aged 16 to 34 in 2022. The findings showed that 25% of women in this age group are considering anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers. Among men, around 10% reported considering filler treatments. Difference between surgery and injectables

The EenVandaag article does not specify how respondents view surgical procedures compared to non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers. The research

A total of 3,437 participants took part in the 3Vraagt study. The survey covered “cosmetic procedures”, including both surgical treatments (such as breast surgery, liposuction and ear correction) and non-surgical treatments involving injectables.

Normalisation

The findings suggest a shift in attitudes. In 2018, 32% of young people believed that altering a healthy body for aesthetic reasons should be acceptable. According to the EenVandaag Opinion Panel, this has increased to 51% in more recent findings.

Impact

Surgical procedures generally have a greater impact and longer recovery period compared to non-surgical injectable treatments. Anti-wrinkle injections typically last around 12–16 weeks, while dermal fillers may last approximately 6–12 months, depending on the product and treatment area. Results are temporary and vary between individuals.

When the effects gradually wear off, individuals can decide whether to have further treatment based on their experience and preferences.

The EenVandaag article also states: “Of those who have had something done, the majority (79%) are satisfied with the result. Two-thirds (64%) say they have also become happier because of the procedure.” However, these figures relate to cosmetic procedures in general and do not distinguish between surgical and non-surgical treatments.
