I have previously wanted to support this business but will not be returning. I called 44 hours ahead of my appointment to explain that both my four-month-old and I had come down with flu - just four hours outside the 48-hour cancellation window. Despite the circumstances, I was told I’d be charged 50% of the treatment cost regardless.

Policies exist for good reason, but so does discretion. A mother juggling illness alongside a poorly baby deserves at least a moment’s consideration. Unfortunately, none was offered. A customer lost, and one who has since shared her experience with others.

Update in response to the below: I forced myself to the appointment because I could not afford to pay the cancellation fee whilst on maternity pay (I was using a voucher for the actual massage). My original point remains, any good business will exercise a degree of discretion with customer care in mind. Show less »

Such a lovely, welcoming and relaxing place for all your beauty treatments. I’ve had my brows done, a spray tan, nails, and a facial here before, and I’ve been so happy with everything. The team are super friendly and knowledgeable.

I’ve been going to the Bothy for about 3 years now and I absolutely love it! Such a calm environment with lovely staff. I can’t recommend the luxe pedis, massages, facials and brows enough! (They offer lots of services but they are my fave apts) thank you 🌟

Unfortunately I have had a similar experience to the lady who has given 1 star before me. I tried to get there but the fresha app directions were poor I did not make it on time despite calling them etc and they charged me full price £40 for a service I did not receive. Disappointing experience – be cautious!
I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience. Unfortunately, this business lacks a reliable system that supports customers in following their own policies and seems quick to charge fees wherever possible.
(This appears to be a common theme in their reviews.)

I can’t comment on the quality of their services, as I never made it that far. However, their approach to customer care was disappointing and unaccommodating. With so many excellent, customer-friendly businesses in York, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. Show less »
