I regularly have my roots and a blow dry done at Rachel Hunter and have done for years. This time, as soon as (different hair stylist from usual) put the dye mix on my head it was incredibly itchy and I had to scratch it constantly all over with the comb end (it is usually a little itchy for couple of minutes after the dye has been applied but nothing like this). It became unbearable and after ten minutes, it was agreed it would be washed off. It could have been that I had an allergic reaction or it could have been that the dye was mixed incorrectly - too much peroxide. When a different hairdresser came over to ask how I want it blow dried, I said "just a blast with the hairdryer", as obviously I didn't want to go out in the cold with soaking wet hair but that there was no point in styling it (I thought I'd dye my roots later that evening at home).

I was having my nails done with Shellac so the hairdresser ended up drying my hair at the nail table whilst my nails were done - a very quick 5-minute blast as requested.

When I came to pay, I was really surprised to be charged £20 for the 'blow dry'. It came to £47 for the nails (£27) and hair. I was told that included a discount...! I felt too embarrassed to say anything but I feel that it was extremely poor service to charge me for a blast dry of my hair, given the circumstances.

My scalp was burning and itchy for the rest of the evening so I haven't dyed my roots for fear of further hurting my scalp. Obviously I don't know whether it was a mistake on the stylist's part or just simply that I had a weird allergy and I did not blame them, obviously. However, I think it was just very mean to charge me £20 for something that didn't work out and unfortunately I now feel I need to find a new hairdressers. Show less »
