I visited the Quest Clinic, Ayr, mainly to have a small lesion on my face removed by cryotherapy. The surroundings are lovely, the staff welcoming and the assessment and treatment carried out professionally. My issue is with cost. The treatment on my face appeared to be successful but after a period of 6 weeks, the lesion began to grow again in exactly the same spot. I contacted the clinic and an appointment was arranged for a second treatment. Having paid £175 initially and having assumed that a second treatment for a successful outcome for the SAME lesion would be covered by this cost, I was shocked to discover - only after specifically asking - that a further £95 would be charged. When I challenged this it was pointed out that the practitioner would have made everything clear at the time of the initial treatment. She DID, indeed, inform me that a second treatment was occasionally necessary in these cases but there was NO MENTION of additional cost for this. The Clinic Director informed me that they operate a policy of total transparency regarding treatments and costs. Unfortunately, my experience did not bear this out. I would suggest that anyone considering this sort of treatment explores the full financial implications before starting treatment. I declined my second treatment on principle so, effectively, I paid £175 for nothing.
