The place looks pretty run down in many areas (water slides, flooring, tents). Water was dripping from the ceiling, also onto our tent which was wet. There is no way to put your clothes to dry during the night, and the locker belonging to our tent was unusable. Staff said having it opened would come with a lot of bureaucratic overhead. They were not very friendly either, and quite a few of them don't speak German and didn't understand our questions. There is no dedicated washing area, so your teeth have to be brushed right next to the toilets.
Only one pool is open all night while everything else closes between 6pm and 9:30pm. That was unexpected but maybe I should have studied the webpage more thoroughly.
During the night it's quite noisy but not because of people but because of some machine (heating/air con/water pumps???). Bring ear plugs!
The good thing is that nobody checks your luggage so your own food is definitely tolerated. We saw several families having picnics. And the breakfast buffet was very enjoyable. So is the little jungle in the middle of the dome.
Don't make the mistake of getting off the shuttle bus at "reception" when staying inside the dome! Show less »

Having said that, we had a great stay. Not all the staff are polite as expected but the greatest majority are good. They are just not very confortable with English. The service was good however.

We stayed at the sunrise houses and it was a great surprise. It was clean and very fresh, almost new even. Show less »

You can change to swim wear in the dome but there are not enough closets for everyone and the ones that seem available are broken. Meaning the lock doesn’t work.
The food is bad and the service to get the food is worse - it’s horrendous. They have hired just about 1 server per restaurant and they only speak German. Today our dinner restaurant at Ohana hotel where we stay, had run out of 2 food items, of 5 available, and ketchup. At least they said that they might have it tomorrow, but no guarantees.
The room in Ohana is nice. And one elevator is broken so always a queue to get up to your room.
You can buy a refill cup, that you can fill every 45 minutes, but there was always a queue and multiple times we experienced that drinks had run out or no ice…
If you like regular quality food, then this is not for you.
If you like good food, then Germany is not for you.
So, all in all it’s an experience - not be repeated. Show less »

They wasted a lot of time telling me that we couldn't go out because we would not be able to come back in. We had a meal already ordered. But when we decided to go out anyways they wouldn't let me, which is unacceptable. I couldn't find the exit for people that are not overnight guests and don't speak German.

The sad part is that i later found the manager he told me that there was an outdoor area with pools. So 4 employees managed not to tell me this while my son was in a visible panic.

The food was frozen schnitzel with frozen carrots and the French fries weren't even good. Water was expensive.

But alpha omega the quite rude people in admissions managed to ruin the whole day for a kid that was visibly uncomfortable. Don't know what the standards are in Germany but this was unbelievable, especially for the hospitality industry. Show less »

A mix of highs and lows at Tropical Islands

Tropical Islands is definitely vast and visually impressive, with plenty of space to wander around and a really beautiful, modern design. The highlight for us was absolutely the food—the meals were excellent, and that was probably the best part of our experience. The dining area really stood out in terms of quality.

However, despite being advertised as the world's largest water park, it doesn't really compare to places like those in Dubai, Thailand, or Denmark. The number of water attractions was pretty limited—just about four main rides—and many other activities required extra payment. We had an all-inclusive ticket, but still ended up paying for several things that we expected to be included.

Most notably, even though our hotel room was very modern and chic, it didn’t have basic amenities like soap, shampoo, or toothpaste. For an all-inclusive ticket, this was really disappointing and not acceptable for the price we paid.

In summary, while the park has a lovely design and great food, the lack of included amenities and limited number of attractions made it less impressive than expected. It’s a mixed experience, leaning a bit more on the downside considering the cost. Show less »

Date of visit Aug 12, I cannot believe how much this resort has gone down hill in 2 years, I have previously recommended this place to many people and all over social media as it WAS amazing, HOWEVER THIS IS NOT THE CASE ANYMORE, NOW I WILL AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS - this place is overcrowded, dirty, expensive and the staff are extremely rude.

The staff are extremely rude, unhelpful and has no customer service skills at all, especially staff at the breakfast buffet including one female staff member who insisted we moved while we was eating. We was sat in the extended area (no other tables free) which was open until exactly 10.30 and at 10.35 we was just finishing our food and she insisted we moved in to another part of the restaurant and even waited until we moved.

The staff at the help and info desk isn’t helpful either, so many people complaining (it’s not surprising) the staff just ignore you and walk off including the managers, I waited 75 minutes in-line or various lines after being sent from one line to another to complain about the first room they offered us, (this room was next to the smoking lounge and all you could smell was stale smoke and used fryer oil, it was disgusting).

The room they gave me instead was disgraceful, we found the rooms are dated and dirty, our room was 1204 (AVOID AT ALL COSTS) it was literally a dungeon below the arcade area, we stayed there for 3 nights and it wasn’t cleaned, or the bins emptied or we wasn’t even offered fresh towels once.

The food was very repetitive, tasteless and look-warm. The buffet restaurant was extremely expensive and didn’t even include a drink.

The place was superficial clean, on the top layer was fine but underneath it was filthy even the pools.

Don’t expect to get a sun lounger or deck chair after 8am.

I feel extremely disappointed and cheated I wasted £600 on this trip, this was a holiday from hell.

For us it was terrible that all the floating hair was loose and when swimming the hairs got caught between our fingers. To be honest, very disgusting, but there are no requirements there either and it ruined the experience. Show less »

I visited Tropical Islands and stayed at the Hotel Havana for two nights. While the park itself is beautiful and the pools are excellent, the hotel and food were a huge disappointment.

The Park: The park is stunning and the pools are great. It's a fantastic place for a day trip.

The Hotel and Service: The Hotel Havana did not meet our expectations. We were hoping for a separate reception, but there wasn't one. The rooms were clean and seemed new, but the service was terrible. There was no soap in the room. Despite asking several times, we had to go to reception to get some. There was no air conditioning in the room, even though it was listed on the website, and the days we were there were hot. The window only opened 30 cm. When we asked for another room at reception, they told us dismissively that there was nothing they could do. The attitude was very rude.

Food and Cleanliness: The food at the resort is mediocre at best, and the prices are very high for what you get. As for cleanliness, while everything seemed clean at first glance, we were shocked to see cockroaches in the parrot's cage.

In Conclusion: I highly recommend visiting the Tropical Islands park for a fun day, but I do not recommend staying overnight. The hotel and restaurant experience does not justify the price and detracts from the overall enjoyment. Show less »

Yes, that might be true. But not everything is about swimming — a lot of it is games, shops, and restaurants. Still, it has a very lovely atmosphere. The air felt like a sunny holiday abroad. The water was warm and very pleasant to swim in.

We purchased the all-inclusive food option, which turned out to be a bit unnecessary, especially if you’re only visiting for the day. It might be more worthwhile if you’re staying overnight at the resort.

However, there was very poor information for visitors coming from abroad. We constantly had to ask around because nothing was clearly explained. We didn’t know where we were allowed to eat, what was included, or even where to get the cup for the free drinks.

We still had fun and would recommend it to others. But please — more information in English would be greatly appreciated. Show less »

Disappointed by Cleanliness and Organization

While the overall concept of Tropical Islands is appealing and the facilities are impressive at first glance, we were very disappointed by the low standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the resort.

Most concerning was the fact that feces were found in the children’s pool on two separate occasions. Despite notifying staff, it took approximately 45-90 minutes before anyone responded. The only action taken was that someone removed the waste – no disinfection, no closure of the area, and the pool was reopened almost immediately. By that time, other guests had already stepped in it and it had spread in the water, making the experience feel extremely unhygienic and unsafe for children.

The toilets across the resort were also frequently dirty and poorly maintained, with limited staff attention.

In addition, we experienced serious issues with the shuttle service to and from the cottages and camping areas. Buses did not follow the posted schedules, and most notably, the last bus of the evening simply did not arrive. We and other guests were left waiting outside for over an hour, apparently because the driver had taken a break or failed to show up.

Overall, we were expecting a much higher level of service and cleanliness for a place marketed as a premium resort. Sadly, we left with disappointment. Show less »

Breakfast is delicious and also variety of food/lunch is big enough to meet everyone’s expectations.

We stayed once in Tipi (nice and in the middle of everything) and once in Ohana (clean, big enough for 2+3 family, quiet).

Summing up patience is needed for waiting for a lift in Ohana, waiting in queue for slides and waiting in the queue to register and Information service.

Staff is friendly, working hard and helpful. Show less »

Getting there from Berlin was incredibly simple just a straightforward drive, and parking was easy and hassle-free. From the moment we arrived, everything felt smooth and well-organized.

The water park was a huge hit, especially for my 6-year-old. There were plenty of exciting areas for kids to play and explore, and he had an absolute blast. As for me, I really enjoyed the pool areas, which were pleasantly warm and relaxing perfect for parents looking to unwind while the kids are having fun.

One thing that surprised me was the quality of the food. There was a wide variety of choices that catered to both adults and kids everything from hearty meals to lighter options, all of it fresh and really tasty.

On top of it all, the entire place was spotlessly clean, which made a big difference in the overall comfort of the experience.

We’ll definitely be coming back it’s a great family destination and totally worth the visit! Show less »
