I do not recommend this salon. I had a chemical peel here that left me with superficial chemical burns and required treatment at A&E. The first peel went fine, but the second caused burns all over my face.
During the second peel, I mentioned to the aesthetician — who is a licensed nurse — that it was stinging, but she assured me it was normal and didn’t realise it was actually burning until she began removing it. Even then, she didn’t acknowledge that my face was burnt until I looked in the mirror myself. I would have expected a far higher level of care and awareness from someone with a medical background.
There was no accountability or proper aftercare. I was simply told to “go home and apply coconut oil,” which is not recommended for burns. When I raised my concerns, I was blamed and told that my skincare products must have caused the reaction — despite using nothing harsh and having made no changes between treatments.
To make matters worse, the staff weren’t even clear on what peel they had used. I was initially told it was lactic acid, but later informed it was glycolic acid, which isn’t suitable for sensitive skin. This inconsistency and lack of product knowledge are extremely concerning.
Overall, it was a distressing and unprofessional experience. Please do your research and avoid this salon if you value your skin and wellbeing.
Edited in response to reply:
No actives were being used that would have affected a lactic acid peel, which is what I agreed to. I had been using the same skincare products for years, and I’ve previously had lactic acid treatments at other clinics without ever being burnt. I also stopped using retinols and other harsh actives beforehand, not because your clinic advised this, but from my own knowledge of chemical peel treatments and safety.
At my first appointment I was offered two types of chemical peels, lactic or glycolic acid based. I specifically agreed to the lactic peel as it’s more suitable for sensitive skin, and I wrongly believed that was what had been applied. It’s very concerning that you’re saying the clinic only offers one peel but I was offered two options. Looking back, I’m extremely fortunate the first treatment didn’t burn me.
Lastly, after visiting A&E, I contacted the salon and was told there was nothing further you could do and that I needed to contact your insurers directly.
